Château Élan lacks the beauty and challenges found at Lanier Islands and the Highlands at Lake Arrowhead. Château Élan does have a certain air of class which attracts many player from around the country.
Situated in the rolling foothills of the northeast Georgia Mountains, just an hour outside of Atlanta. The course is characterized by contoured fairways, three breathtaking lakes, and two winding streams. The course is augmented by lush vineyards and a 16th-century French-style Château.
The course layout incorporates water hazards on over half of the holes and nearly 90 bunkers that line the fairways.
Château Élan's consists of two public 18-hole championship course, called Château and Woodlands. Both courses are considered among the finest in Georgia.
Each course has a unique character and design. The Château course is 7,030 yards, par 71 graced with serene valley lakes. The Woodlands course is 6,851 yards, par 72 with rolling hills.
There is a par 3, 9-hole Executive walking course adjacent to the Inn. It is more for a fresh air break in your weekend or meeting schedule. It is a 1,100 yards course with undulating greens, small bunkers and small ponds, for those who want to sharpen their iron game or do not have time for a full-round.
A third course called the Legends is a private club that winds through the heart of Château Élan. The current initiation fee for the Legends is $35,000 with $33,500 refundable, monthly fee is $300 plus $75 per month food and beverage minimum.
Golf amenities include two clubhouses, two professional golf shops, two restaurants, two climate-controlled pavilions for events, and a driving range.
Prices
Prices used to be quite steep for this course but of recent they have fallen considerably.
Golf Advisor.com rates the course at 84%. This meaning 84% of people who reviewed this course would return. This is quite low for a course billed as a premium course. Most dissatisfaction tended to be with course maintenance and slow pace of players. Maintenance seems to be spotty with some months rated “good” and others “poor.”
Feel like splurging
Golf packages include overnight accommodations in a Villa at Chateau Elan with unlimited Golf per person on the Chateau, Woodlands, and Par 3 Courses. Golf carts and unlimited driving range access included.
Rates vary from $819-$1089 for two golfers in a two-bedroom villa to $919-$1139 for two golfers in a three-bedroom villa.
If you do not wish to splurge on a villa, a deluxe overnight room in the Inn at Château Élan with unlimited golf for two and cart and range balls on the Château course or Woodlands course will set you back in the $400 to $500 range.
